A Surprise from God

Abraham and Sarah had grown very old. For many years they had hoped and prayed for a child, but none had come. Still, they trusted that God had not forgotten them.

One warm day, three visitors came to their tent. Abraham welcomed them with kindness. He offered them water to wash their feet and a delicious meal to eat.

As they rested, one of the visitors shared wonderful news.

“Next year, Sarah will have a son.”

Sarah was listening from inside the tent. She quietly laughed to herself.

“How could that happen?” she wondered. “I’m much too old!”

The visitor gently asked, “Is anything too wonderful for God?”

Just as God had promised, Sarah gave birth to a baby boy. Abraham and Sarah named him Isaac, which means “he laughs.”

Sarah smiled and said, “God has given me laughter, and everyone who hears this story will laugh with me.”

Their laughter was no longer filled with doubt. It was filled with joy and gratitude.

God had kept the promise.

What Can We Learn?

God is faithful, even when we have to wait a long time. Sometimes God’s answers come in ways we never expect. Waiting can be hard, but hope helps us keep trusting.

Dear God,

Thank You for being faithful to Your promises. Help us trust You while we wait and fill our hearts with joy that we can share with others.
