Bible Reading: Genesis 12:1–9; 15:1–6

Trusting God’s Journey

Abram lived with his family in a land they had always known. One day, God spoke to him.

“Leave your home and go to the land I will show you. I will bless you, and through you all the families of the earth will be blessed.”

Abram did not know exactly where he was going. He did not have a map. But he trusted God.

So Abram packed his belongings, gathered his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, their servants, and their animals, and they began their journey.

They traveled across hills, valleys, rivers, and deserts. Whenever they stopped, Abram thanked God and built an altar to remember God’s faithfulness.

One night, God took Abram outside.

“Look up at the sky,” God said.

Abram looked up and saw more stars than he could count.

“So shall your descendants be,” God promised.

Abram believed God’s promise, even though he and Sarai were old and had no children yet.

God also gave them new names. Abram became Abraham, and Sarai became Sarah. Their new names reminded them that God was doing something new in their lives.

Abraham learned that following God does not always mean knowing every step ahead. Sometimes faith means taking the next step, trusting that God walks beside us.

What Can We Learn?

Faith is trusting God even when we cannot see the whole path. God can lead us into new adventures and use us to bring blessing, kindness, and hope to others.

Prayer

Dear God,

Thank You for walking with us wherever we go. Help us trust You, even when we cannot see what comes next. May our lives be a blessing to everyone we meet.
